Thanks for using OpenSnow! This update includes: Forecast Summary Widget Get a quick overview of current conditions and weather for the next week with our “Forecast Summary” widget. This new widget provides multiple options to view the 7-10 day forecast summary, including current conditions, high/low temperature, and color-coded weather icons when inclement weather is expected. Get started by long-pressing your home screen, tap the (+) in the upper-left corner, scroll down to OpenSnow, and select your widget. Lightning Risk Map View the risk of lightning occurring in an area within the next hour and lightning strikes over the previous hour. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, select the “Lightning Risk” overlay, and scrub the bottom slider. This overlay is only available in the United States. Hail Size Map See the maximum expected hail size over the past two hours. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, select the “Current US Hail Size” overlay, and scrub the bottom slider. This overlay is only available in the United States. 3D Maps You can now visualize our snow, weather, and air quality maps in 3D to help you plan your next adventure. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, select your overlay and base map, and then tap the “3D” icon on the main screen to get started. Public & Private Land Maps View public and private land ownership maps in OpenSnow. This includes land ownership by federal, state, and local organizations, as well as by private individuals and companies. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, and then tap “Public Lands” or “Land Ownership” to get started. Weather Stations View the latest temperature, wind, and snow data from over 50,000 global weather stations. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, select the “Weather Stations” overlay, and then choose any chip to view the latest data. You can also tap on any weather station to view detailed charts and graphs from either the “Maps” tab or by going to the “Weather Stations” tab on any location screen. Current Global Radar Track storms worldwide with our new “Current Global Radar” map overlay. This radar is updated every 10 minutes and you can use the bottom slider to view precipitation detected over the past 2 hours. Tap the “Maps” tab, tap the overlay button, select the “Current Global Radar” overlay, and scrub the bottom slider to help you track ongoing precipitation.
